WE ARE FAMILY/SISTER SLEDGE

Este grupo musical Americano, se formo en 1972, y consta de cuatro hermanas: KIM SLEDGE, DEBBIE, JONI y KATHY, nietas de la ex cantante de ópera Viola Williams. Se criarón en el norte de Filadelfia y empezaron a cantar en la Iglesia Bautista de Macedonia.

Lanzaron su primer single "Time Will Tell" cuando tenian entre 12 y 16 años. El éxito comercial llegó en 1979 con la canción "We Are Family" y "He's the Greatest Dancer" llegó a número uno en las listas de R&B. The Pittsburgh Pirates también utilizó "We Are Family" como tema principal. Después de dejar Atlantic Records en 1985, Sister Sledge volvieron a unirse para grabar el álbum "African Eyes" en 1997.
